Dr. Ushiba is a board certified orthopedic surgeon. He is fellowship trained in foot and ankle reconstruction. His practice includes sports medicine and joint replacement.
Dr. Ushiba has a novel approach to patients with diabetic neuropathy. In the past, little could be done for this patient population as they often developed ulcers, deformity, and amputations. However, this new approach may improve sensation and reduce pain. Based on recent tests, the treatments offered by Dr. Ushiba may also decrease the risk of amputation.
Dr. Ushiba completed his undergraduate work at the University of California at Berkeley, and graduated with his medical degree from the University of California at Davis. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center, and completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Harvard University.
Dr. Ushiba has enjoyed living and practicing in Monterey County since joining Precision Orthopedics in 2001. He enjoys golf and travel and is active in local charities including the Boys and Girls Club, the SPCA and Children¿s Miracle Network. Dr. Ushiba is also a team physician for Hartnell College and a volunteer physician for the Los Angeles Shriners Hospital.
