Dr. Louis Romeo is both the Director of the Joint Replacement Center at Stony Brook University Medical Center as well as Assistant Professor of Orthopedics.
He is fellowship trained in arthritis surgery as well as hip and knee replacement surgery. He has specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with arthritis of the hip and knee.
Treatments that Dr. Romeo can employ in patients with arthritis of the hip and knee include, physical therapy, oral medication, aquatherapy, injection therapy with gel shots or cortisone shots or hip or knee replacement surgery if necessary.
Dr. Romeo is a graduate of Tufts University, where he earned his Doctorate of Medicine Degree (MD). He completed a general surgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas and his orthopaedic residency at State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Dr. Romeo also received specialized training in Surgical Arthritis and Joint Reconstruction surgery through an esteemed fellowship program at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, and specializes in Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement surgery.
