Dr. Stephen Viess is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in arthroscopic surgery, sports injuries, and fracture care. He completed a fellowship in sports medicine and trauma at the Lake Tahoe Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. Viess has been a member of the Oakland Athletics medical staff since 2007.
Dr. Viess is a graduate of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Originally planning to become a general surgeon, Dr. Viess completed two years of surgical residency at UCSF before deciding to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery. He completed his orthopaedic residency at St. Mary's Hospital in San Francisco.
Dr. Viess is affiliated with ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton and Valley Memorial Hospital in Livermore. He sees patients at the Pleasanton, Livermore, and Oakland locations. |
